This coming week I will be away on retreat in southern Indiana at St. Meinrad. I will have your prayer intentions with me; they will be prayed for as part of my retreat time. I started St. Meinrad seminary college in January of 1984 and was there for 2 ½ years before attending Mundelein Seminary. The 2 seminaries were alike, yet different. St. Meinrad is in a very rural setting and is run by Benedictine monks. Mundelein is in a more suburban area and is run by Chicago diocesan priests. Both schools offered much in way of education and formation.
In only 3 weeks we will be entering Holy Week with Palm Sunday. I hope your Lenten Season is going well for you this year. It should be a time of peace and calm for you as you look at how you might come closer to Christ. He is always there for us—he has his eye on the sparrow; and he has his eye on each of us as well!
We also need to remember to pray for a good, holy and constructive merger of our parishes of Ascension of Our Lord and Christ the King. Soon, much will be happening, as July 1 will be getting closer; that is the date when all things are to go into full affect. It will take more time for adjustments to be internalized by each of us with this historic change.
Peace…….Fr. Jeff
