Thank you for your patience and support as we kick off this year’s 2025 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal. We do this every year in support of our Diocese, the wider church. We are reminded at this time no one parish does it alone. Together, as a diocese, we can accomplish much. For the practical things that take place every day in a parish, we do not need to re-invent the wheel, so to speak. There is a structure in place that we are part of that gives us help in different areas. We are blessed to be in the Midwest with many Catholic people; we have resources! If you have already contributed to the appeal, as I know many of you have already, some time ago; thank you. I appreciate your prayers, and your financial support if you are able.
Yes, it is maybe hard to believe, but Spring is coming. Lent begins for us this week on Wednesday—another sign of springtime! While Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation, people come to church for mass or liturgy of the word, and receive ashes on their heads as they begin the 40-day journey towards Easter. I invite you to think about Lent. What will you “do” to make it special? We begin with mass on Ash Wednesday with distribution of ashes at either 8:30 in the morning or at 6:00 in the evening. One of our Deacons will have a liturgy of the word service with distribution of ashes at 12:15 and again at 4:00. A beautiful way to begin this holy time.
Peace…….Fr. Jeff
